From Packaging to Purpose: My Journey into Sustainability Leadership
When I first stepped into the world of sustainability, it wasn’t part of a grand plan—it was a pivot born out of opportunity. My company said, “Take a shot at sustainability” while waiting to place me in another role. That one “yes” turned into a career-defining path that now places me at the helm of sustainability at Baxter, where I’m shaping how we Save and Sustain Lives through environmental and social impact.

The Power of "yes"
My career began in packaging, where I spent nearly two decades in roles ranging from quality engineering to commercial leadership. Experiences living abroad as an expat and running a small business in Europe broadened my perspective, but it was an unexpected invitation to explore sustainability that sparked a new passion.
I didn't know where that opportunity would lead, but I said yes.
That curiosity has shaped my career ever since. My advice to those early in their careers is simple: stay curious and remain open to possibilities. You never know when one opportunity could lead to something much bigger.
Making Sustainability Part of the Business
My approach to sustainability is deeply pragmatic. I’m not just planting trees...I’m walking hospital floors, engaging with commercial teams, and building strategies that align environmental goals with business value. We have to look and act like the rest of the business. Sustainability isn’t a side project—it’s a force multiplier.
My work spans everything from reducing water usage in manufacturing to helping sales teams understand how sustainability can close deals.
