The Role:

At Baxter, we prioritize the creation of a collaborative and inclusive environment where every team member can succeed. The HR Employee Relations Specialist will work as a key member of the HR team and take the lead for our Employee Relations and Workers Compensation Claims management processes. In this pivotal role, your expertise will be crucial in mentoring HR business partners and Business leaders in standard methodologies, ensuring our processes are both compliant and best-practice.

Reporting to the Human Resources Director, you will work as a key point of contact for all Employee Relations matters with an oversight of Workers Compensation Claims. With two direct reports focused on employee return to work plans and Occupational Health, this role will take a lead role for coaching on Employee Relations best practices and the continuous improvement of our relevant practices and policies.

While we prefer the candidate to be based in NSW, we will consider applicants based in VIC or QLD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure company policies and practices related to performance management, investigations, and complaints are consistently applied and continuously improved

  • Maintain and update templates and processes for managing performance, investigations, and support HR Business Partners in their implementation

  • Mentor managers and employees on performance management and other Employee Relations areas

  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners and Business Leaders to advise employees regarding workplace changes

  • Ensure ER processes are in place and that HR Business Partners and managers are well-trained and informed on relevant employment areas

  • Facilitate early access to treatment and services for workers to support timely recovery and return to work

  • Develop and action early intervention plans with workers, employers, and treatment providers to achieve key objectives

  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external collaborators to support claims management

  • Manage Workers Compensation across various regions, including Australia and New Zealand, ensuring compliance and successful renewals

  • Address and minimize workplace risks and employee injuries and illnesses across ANZ

  • Improve the organization's understanding of psychosocial safety in accordance with WHS legislative requirements

  • Coordinate and track the progress of the ANZ Injury Management Program and Workers Compensation program to deliver successful outcomes

  • Report incidents and claims to statutory directors and the Senior Leadership Team, highlighting any legal or compliance risks.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in HR, ER, Law, or a related fields

  • 6+ years experience in a Human Resources environment with solid understanding of current relevant legislation and industrial instruments

  • Understanding of Workers Compensation Claims and Processes

  • Demonstrated business insight and a track record of providing accurate and timely advice on HR policies and practices

  • Experience in providing HR and employee relations advice in a complex environment

  • Proven ability to implement employee performance management practices, investigations, and complaints handling practices

  • Experience handling employee relations matters, such as grievances, performance, and disciplinary matters, policy development, and contract drafting

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail.
