As a Reliability Engineering Manager, you will have be recognized as a leader in the maintenance profession. Responsible for the strategic planning for the department. Provides leadership within the reliability engineering organization. Owns the organization of managers, engineers, supervisors and technicians. Responsible for a budget more than $5 million dollars. Develops the team to complete projects and programs within boundaries of quality, time and budget. Based on significant technical and managerial expertise, creates a strategy and structure to improve asset availability for the plant. Provides technical direction to staff. Cultivates an environment of creativity and innovation in completing departmental responsibilities and goals.

What you'll be doing

  • Provides strategic planning leadership by setting strategies and priorities based upon anticipation and application of industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Provides leadership for all things' future in terms of equipment reliability. Areas of responsibility include reliability engineering, predictive maintenance, planning and scheduling, computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), technical training and the maintenance in training program (MIT).
  • Responsible for management of the site Sterilization Maintenance Department, Machine Shop and Project Shop resources and responsibilities.
  • Create and implement a proactive site wide reliability system to improve maintenance metrics, personnel knowledge and abilities, ultimately increasing asset availability. Required to influence Area Managers to align with the reliability program and achieve set goals by using broad knowledge and experience in multi-functional activities,
  • Improve the effectiveness of internal and external resources (business unit and cross-business unit) to meet business objectives.
  • Drive the site wide culture change as it relates to equipment reliability. Ensure improvements are realized in reliability engineering, operator care, work execution and materials management.
  • Create and maintain an environment where team members experience personal and professional growth and become a more self-directed team.
  • Review and approves proposals to resolve if benefits derived and possible applications rationalize expenditures. Presents proposal to senior management for consideration and allocation of funds. Responsible for preparation of capital project application. Advises all departmental expenditures and cost tracking. Directs and monitors benefits supervising and departmental VIP initiatives.
  • Provide strategic planning leadership to ensure adequate resources are available to finish the business unit and division responsibility.
  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles
  • Learn, understand and apply meticulous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities

  • Must possess proven understanding of maintenance management (e.g. technical knowledge, maintenance metrics and computerized maintenance management systems) and solid knowledge of related fields.
  • Ability to establish long-range business plans which anticipate global trends, technical, economic and socio-political conditions.
  • Demonstrate understanding of business drivers, customer needs and global dynamics to create viable strategic plans. Flex and work with Global Engineering’s Lean Maintenance Program.
  • Consistent record of management/leadership effectiveness.
  • Must possess strong ability to negotiate and improve effectiveness of resources and influence others internally and externally.
  • Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.
  • Must have basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to connect with other team members.

What you'll bring

  • BS in relevant subject area, with sophisticated technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • 12 or more years of relevant technical experience.
  • Several years of technical management experience including multi-functional teams, resource and budget management and strategic development experience

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more visible with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $120,000-$165,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
