Your Role at Baxter

To develop, implement and administrate all applicable environmental, health, safety (EHS). Responsible for site compliance with all federal, state and local environmental Programs or Health and Safety regulations. Provides technical support to EHS division staff, quality, engineering, facilities, maintenance and manufacturing. This position will have a primary focus on Health and Safety or Environmental programs.

What you'll be doing

  • Execute the elements EHSS Management System (including ISO 14001 & 45001) as necessary

  • Assist with the administration and implementation of EHS policies and programs.

  • Ensure compliance with EHSS regulations and Baxter requirements; follows emerging EHSS regulations and issues. 

  • Proactively identify potential EHS hazards through risk assessments, Gemba walks, inspections, etc., and drive timely corrective actions. 

  • Provide regulatory guidance and administration support on all EHS regulations. 

  • Develops relationships with other functions (e.g., engineering, facilities) to ensure EHSS aspects are considered at the beginning of new/changing operations and drives improvement existing EHSS methods and techniques.

  • Perform and/or assist in Industrial Hygiene monitoring.

  • Provide specialized training to Baxter employees.

  • Manage site activities which impact areas of environmental and/or safety compliance with Federal, State, or Local regulations.

  • Provide non-routine problem solving for engineering and manufacturing groups.

  • Perform investigation, root cause analysis and complete corrective action plans for environmental and safety incidents.

  • Prepare and/or assist with composing agency corporate and divisional reports.

  • Participate in site Emergency Response Team for hazardous materials spills and medical response.

  • Accomplish EH&S results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.

  • Assist with workers' compensation program including claims monitoring and administration, report generation, and communication with employees, managers, insurance carriers, medical staff for litigated/non-litigated claims.

What you'll bring

  • B.S. Degree in Environmental, Safety, Engineering or related field required

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience which should include leadership experience through direct supervision or indirect leadership roles (project management, leading teams, mentoring.

  • Experience with Safety programs (Confined Space, Lockout/Tagout, Fall Protection, PPE, Powered Industrial trucks, Industrial Hygiene etc)

  • Experience with Environmental programs (Stormwater, Wastewater, Hazardous Waste, Air permitting etc.)

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as Corporate policies, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.       

  • Must have deep knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and DOT. Knowledge of State of California specific requirements preferred. Proven ability to develop and execute short and long-term strategic plans.

  • Proven track record of interpersonal and leadership skills with ability to interface well with other departments and lead effectively and efficiently in a team environment.

  • In-depth process knowledge of related manufacturing equipment and processes.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing plant setting.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret scientific, and statistical data.

  • Strong professional writing skills and ability to prepare technical reports.

  • Ability to clearly articulate information during regulatory/client inspections ·

  • Ability to understand GMPs and other applicable regulatory guidelines.

  • Strong assessment and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to respond to detailed inquiries and present information to groups and senior leaders.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to use enterprise software.

  • Ability to collect and analyze data and information to determine paths for process improvement and potential root cause.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills · Working knowledge of business acumen

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $96,000 - $132,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonus.
