This is hybrid role with three days a week working out of our Deerfield, IL corporate office and two days a week remotely.

Your role at Baxter

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Responsibility (CR) and Global Philanthropy and Executive Director of the Baxter International Foundation, the position supports the Vice President’s efforts to broaden awareness of Baxter’s commitment to its global communities and enhance its reputation and brand through strategic sustainability efforts and social investments. The role is responsible for supporting Baxter’s Corporate Responsibility and Global Philanthropy efforts through philanthropic grantmaking, employee engagement, management and development of Baxter’s annual corporate responsibility report and support for Baxter’s ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) ratings, rankings and surveys. This includes effective stewardship of financial resources and ensuring record systems maintenance, due diligence and compliance for programs in partnership with cross-functional Baxter teams.

Corporate Responsibility Strategy, Leadership and Execution

  • Lead and evolve the development of the Company’s annual Corporate Responsibility Report including tracking annual progress of 2030 Corporate Responsibility Goals for disclosure in the annual report, which includes gathering data and feedback from all key partners.
  • Collaborate with Finance, IT, legal and other departments as necessary on the management of sustainability data; develop industry leading data management and tracking systems to support both voluntary and European Union Corporate Sustainability Reporting
  • Support company submissions to priority external rating and ranking agencies and prepare internal analysis/memos to leadership regarding scoring. Select examples include ISS, Sustainalytics, MSCI, JUST Capital, etc.
  • Evaluate, prioritize and assess different partner groups, interests and public information requirements related to CR/Sustainability.
  • Collaborate on the communications strategy to launch disclosures externally and educate employees internally about Baxter’s leading position in the sustainability field.
  • Support the maintenance of internal/external websites for CR/ESG-related information and disclosures and serve as resource for internal partners for formal ESG reporting.

Global PhilanthropyManagement & Administration

  • Help build and drive the enterprise-wide partnership vision to implement a dynamic and meaningful global philanthropic strategy which includes a coordinated employee giving, volunteering and engagement experience.
  • Build and maintain active relationships with external nonprofit partners to strengthen the impact of our global philanthropic strategy, programmatic signature partnership impact and engagement and mobilization of employee volunteers.
  • Develop enterprise-wide partnerships to drive the overall vision, strategy, and execution of dynamic and meaningful employee engagement and volunteerism programs. These should connect both corporate based and fully remote employees globally to our mission, company goals and corporate responsibility vision.
  • Leverage company culture initiatives to create meaningful engagement strategies to enhance employee engagement and volunteerism events to support community impact and the employee experience life cycle.
  • Track relevant trends and leading practices in global philanthropy and employee engagement/volunteerism to continually enhance program strategies and impacts, analytics and employee experience.

Staff management

  • Mentor interns across projects supporting our corporate responsibility and global philanthropic activities.
  • Oversee independent vendors and external contractors as required.

What you'll bring

  • 7 plus years of combined corporate responsibility, grant management, employee relations experience (healthcare experience preferred/not required).
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Sustainability, Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, Communications, Environmental Sciences or related field preferred.
  • Well versed in project management tools and processes. Project management certification a plus.
  • Philanthropy and project management certification a plus.
  • Direct experience/results in a) employee engagement programs (including work place giving and community employee volunteer programs), b) proposal evaluation/review skills and c) solid understanding of generally accepted grant-making policies and regulations.
  • Familiarity with grantmaking platform to support employee engagement and optimize grantmaking administration.
  • Excellent written, verbal, event management and presentation skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with grant and budget management, including ability to read financial statements, develop budgets and review audited financial reports a plus.
  • Excellent people skills – ability to connect with employees, partners, and leaders, build partnerships, communicate effectively with people all over the world at every level of the organization.

  • Demonstrated track record of thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment, effectively managing multiple programs and projects simultaneously while paying close attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Highly organized, analytical, proactive teammate with a high degree of initiative that can implement independently, set and meet deadlines and targets.
  • Sound problem-solving skills, ability to objectively analyze current practices, identify root cause problems and improvement opportunities, formulate a range of achievable options, and build consensus for a preferred solution.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $128,000 - 176,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position is also eligible for discretionary bonuses, and long-term incentive.
