Summary

Baxter’s ECEMEA (Eastern & Central Europe, Middle East and Africa) business is already one of the fastest growing regions for the company consistently achieving high single digit growth. However, the company aspires to further accelerate this region’s growth to double digits by unlocking the large untapped opportunity that continues to exist in such a diverse and dynamic emerging market. The Business Transformation Senior Manager will play a pivotal role in pursuit of that growth acceleration via strategy development and execution of strategic acquisitions, distribution, and licensing deals.  

The Business Transformation Senior Manager position will require a balanced combination of vigorous analytical skills required to evaluate opportunities qualitatively and quantitatively, along with strong interpersonal abilities to effectively collaborate and positively influence a diverse set of colleagues across the leadership team and the functional groups (e.g. Marketing, Finance, QA, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, HR, etc).  

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with the GBU and regional leadership teams to identify gaps in the current portfolio and then develop roadmaps to fill those gaps via acquisitions, distribution deals or licenses. 

  • Synthesize wide-ranging market data and competitive landscape across a diverse region such as Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa to inform development of strategies and business cases to support potential transactions. 

  • Conduct rigorous quantitative and qualitative analyses to identify key value drivers of new opportunities.

  • Build out detailed market models that flow into target pro-forma financials and ultimately into discounted-cash-flow valuation models. 

  • Close attention to detail on all aspect of market and valuation models.

  • Create materials required for diligence processes and deal pitches.

  • Build analyses, insights and recommendations around targets; support analyses with sound data collection and strategic thinking.

  • Manage the continued development of monthly deal pipeline reviews and associated metrics. 

  • Project management and cross-functional leadership to ensure smooth process for due diligence and integration processes.

  • Create tools and outputs that support decision making around deal ranking, deal valuation and the formation of the other related business development decisions.

  • Develop and maintain a target database containing information on markets, competitors and technology pertinent to the company's business interests. 

  • Clearly communicate model assumptions and outputs to senior business leaders including the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer to succinctly demonstrate market opportunity and key value drivers.

  • Creative approach to finding solutions and problem solving when precise assumptions are difficult to attain.

  • Acts as a corporate representative and negotiator in contact with target candidate companies and their third party advisors. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.MBA preferred.

  • 5 years+ experience in business development & licensing (i.e. corporate development), investment banking, management consulting, private equity and/or venture capital experience.

  • Understanding of the key influencers and stakeholders involved in the medical device and pharmaceutical market (e.g. regulatory bodies, pricing authorities, healthcare providers, etc).

  • Proven track record of deal execution, particularly around creative deal structuring to drive value and expediency.

  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative assessment skills, critical thinking skills, and ability to develop strategic plans and business cases.

  • Knowledge of external healthcare business environment along with an understanding of competitive dynamics in medical devices and pharmaceuticals, and ability to forecast potential next moves.

  • Fluent English is a must.
