Summary

As a member of Baxter’s Pharmaceuticals Business Unit, you will accelerate growth by helping develop and execute an aggressive marketing and growth strategy for Baxter’s Western Europe Generic Injectable Pharmaceuticals team.  The marketer identifies unmet customer needs, defines product requirements, and determines market strategy for new products.  The marketer will drive execution of new products launch activities from business case through launch success. This person ensures successful portfolio management throughout the products’ lifecycle, including prioritization, pricing, promotion, differentiation and discontinuation of products. The marketer oversees the overall financial health of the portfolio and has strong market and clinical knowledge on the use of the products in the Region.  Seeking talented individual with marketing and/or business development background and expertise in European Generic Injectable Pharmaceuticals.

Role Responsibilities

  • With direction from the European Portfolio Director, the marketer will lead molecule selection, development of commercial plans, execution of key marketing initiatives and delivery of overall financial results.

  • Assess market opportunities for growth and forecast regional demand

  • In collaboration with local teams, uncover opportunities to launch existing products in new countries

  • Consolidate regional voice-of-customer and define product requirements for new product development projects, including drug format/presentation, target cost and pricing

  • Define regional Portfolio Development strategy and identify key adoption barriers

  • Review and analyze new Business Development / M&A opportunities in light of regional strategy

  • Create regional / country product launch plans, including go-to-market strategies in coordination with team of country Key Account Managers (KAMs)

  • Develop products value proposition/claims needed for differentiation, and train country teams on them

  • Define regional product pricing policy/guidelines, and support country teams in bidding for and winning new business opportunities

  • Facilitate cross-country exchange of best practices, and coordination of bidding strategies in order to maximize regional financial output from available portfolio and products

  • In collaboration with country teams, develop financial models / business cases to ensure new pipeline projects achieve financial goals (NPV, IRR)

  • Develop regional annual plans, including Long Range Plan (LRP) and R&D/Regulatory investment plan

  • Collaborate with R&D, Medical, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Market Access, Business Development and Global Marketing teams

  • Monitor and evaluate external competitive environment to proactively identify opportunities and help mitigate threats to existing portfolio and pipeline.

Experience

  • Strong marketing and/or business development experience. At least five years business experience with 3+ years of experience in European pharmaceuticals industry.

  • Experience in multiple facets of pharmaceutical marketing, including:

  • Market strategy (Target Product Profile, Go-to-market plan, Value proposition)

    • Product Development (Feature selection, prioritization, Voice of Customer, launch excellence)

    • Lifecycle management (Discontinuation, Quality improvements, Regulatory compliance)

    • Portfolio Management (prioritization of projects and features)

    • Quantitative & Qualitative Analysis (pricing targets, Cost of Goods targets, product performance analysis, industry trends and practice)

    • Market research (Uncover unmet needs, 1:1 interviews and online research, competitive intelligence)

  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative assessment skills, critical thinking skills, and ability to develop strategic plans and business cases.

  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.  Strong presentation and oral communication skills.

  • Knowledge of European healthcare business trends and environment

Desirable Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, finance, marketing, business or science/technology required.  Pharmacy degree, MBA or PhD in science preferred. 

  • Experience in marketing and/or Business Development in the European Generic Injectables industry
