Summary

You will support the manufacturing of intravenous fluid products using automated process to the defined standards of Quality, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and EHS&S while continuously improving the process. As part of defining the current and future facilities/utilities, filling, over-pouching, sterilisation and packing technology platforms, the Process and Project Engineer is a critical role for the organisation. You will be responsible and accountable to deliver the future business needs in terms of overall performance of the new technologies. The Process and Project Engineer is the owner of all process knowledge, including the required technical and quality/compliance know how for the filling and over-pouching operation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive improvement programs
  • Manage cost and time constraints
  • Provide process documentation and operating instructions
  • Understand the end to end process from weighing and mixing of raw materials through to packing and release of final product. Assess processes, take measurements and interpret data
  • Develop, configure and optimize industrial processes from inception through to start up and certification
  • Design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes
  • Ensure the new processes are designed and run to deliver high quality products at lowest costs, while ensuring that the new processes comply with EH&S, GMP and 6s methodology. Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output
  • Perform process simulations
  • Ensure continuous improvement processes in Patient safety and Quality, Growth through innovation, Best place to work and Industry leading performance  related to the technologies overseen.
  • To monitor the Overall performances of the Process equipment
  • To develop regular routine planned maintenance tasks for the production line equipment in line with the procedures and programmes in place. Have extensive knowledge of TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance). Be a key user of Maximo Maintenance System or other CMMS.
  • Actively participate and lead (when necessary) the engineering brief and update visual management boards
  • Carry out training activities for team members on the production processes using various techniques to ensure comp
  • Perform risk assessments
  • Manage a number of processes simultaneously working closely with utilities & validation
  • Electrical/Mechanical systems such as PLC systems, low-voltage control systems, three phase systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Guide/design and manage internal and external process improvement work packages (change control)
  • Lead internal and external programs (TPM and Lean Energy Program) and related projects
  • Apply knowledge of scale-up and scale-down principles to ensure process robustness, reliability and meeting manufacturing requirements
  • Employ modelling and statistical analysis packages
  • Participate in a broader community of IV fluid bag subject matter experts (internal and external).
  • Author development reports and memos according to relevant SOPs
  • Perform and manage risk assessments according to Baxter standards
  • Manage and influence stakeholders
  • Represent Product and Process Engineering at key governance milestone meetings.
  • Deliver process engineering support to projects as part of a multi-disciplinary development team.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and ways of working which enhance the performance of plant unit operations.
  • Incorporate continuous improvements of IV fluid bag processes’ manufacturability and sustainability.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, electronic, chemical, process, manufacturing or equivalent) or HNC (ideally Engineering / manufacturing / Industrial Design)
  • At least 2 years’ experience within manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Experience with Electrical/Mechanical systems such as PLC systems, low-voltage control systems, three phase systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Innovative thinking with excellent communication skills
  • The ability to work autonomously
  • Flexible to meet the needs of the business
  • Proven experience in project management to plan and implement project/improvement activities.
  • Strong process orientated, technical approach  
  • Able to communicate with a number of different stakeholders across the business
  • Basic understanding and experience of Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Project
  • Understanding and experience in using statistics for analysis, trending etc
  • Understanding and experience in using problem solving tools such as DMAIC, 5Why, Fishbone, A3 etc
  • Experience of performing basic maintenance activities and an understanding of mechanical, electrical and automation principles
  • Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships
