Baxter Thetford Plant are looking for a Maintenance and Utilities Engineer to join our team on a 12month fixed term contract. You will be responsible for all preventative, predictive, reactive maintenance and process improvement/development tasks relating to but not limited to the utilities (boiler operation, compressed air generation, chilled water & cooling tower operation and effluent plant operations), critical systems(Water for Injection production, including water softeners, reverse osmosis and water distillation plants) and sterilisation processes across the site.

It is also expected that you will collaborate with other engineering teams to deliver improved OEE, CAPEX improvement and validation projects.

This role is based on a Panama style 4-shift working rota in line with the active manufacturing process hours coving 24/7 operations. A fantastic opportunity with a competitive package.

Essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Perform all maintenance tasks associated with the utilities function.

  • Perform routine daily checks and inspections on utilities equipment, including steam boiler operation, effluent systems and CHP plant.

  • Maintain the production and delivery of WFI through the processes of water softeners, reverse osmosis units, vapour compression distillation systems, water storage and distribution systems.

  • Comply with all company EHS/GMP/GDP policies as well as all regulatory body requirements.

  • Have the ability to fault find, PLC control systems, 3-phase and low-voltage electrical systems.

  • Have the ability to fault find, hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • Competent in fault diagnosis, both in a breakdown and a preventative situation using RCA processes to ensure recurring faults are minimised.

  • Ensure effective overhaul and rebuild of equipment.

  • Work in a safe manner. This may include tasks where working at heights, in warm/hot environments and confined space access may be required.

  • Continuous improvement projects through good to great initiatives, 6S programs, budgeting exercises and spares identification.

Candidates should be familiar with.

  • Electrical/Mechanical systems such as PLC systems, low-voltage control systems, three phase systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

  • LOTO procedures, IPAF, harness, confined space, PASMA (Preferable but not essential).

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Total production Maintenance prctices.

  • Water treatment and purification experience such as Reverse Osmosis, Ion Exchange processes, Water Distillation.

  • Steam system operation and maintenance to include steam production, condensate recovery and heating systems, boiler house compliance.

  • Compressed Air Systems.

  • Solution transmission systems.

  • HVAC systems.

  • Working to deadlines and the ability to follow instructions.

  • Able to work from P&ID and wiring schematics.

  • CMMS systems.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Candidates should at minimum have attained trades certification. A relevant accredited multi skilled qualification or equivalent technical certification in Electrical and Mechanical engineering will be an advantage.

  • Working experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry would be an advantage, although not essential if skills are transferrable.

  • Experience with Distilled water stills would be an advantage.

  • Possess leadership qualities, initiative, drive, motivation and a capacity and willingness to learn about new systems and technologies.

  • Good interpersonal and team skills complemented with a high level of multi-disciplined technical aptitude.

  • Experienced to identify and proactively resolve complex technical issues by direct intervention and correction including continuous improvement and RCA approaches.
