Summary:
Electrical Engineer Automated Test and Manufacturing Equipment is responsible for electrical design, development, deployment, maintenance, and support of manufacturing test solutions. This role is responsible for the development of appropriately creative new solutions and improvements to existing designs. The successful candidate for this role will a be a highly versatile hands-on engineer able to design, construct, test, troubleshoot and document.
The Role:
Lead Electrical design for Automated Test Equipment, manufacturing tooling and equipment
Act as a Subject matter expert, or ability to become subject matter expert, on manufacturing equipment electrical designs, both new and legacy
As needed, participate in assembly and construction of test equipment and tooling including electronics assembly, PCBA construction and wiring. including soldering
Work with cross functional teams including Manufacturing, R&D, purchasing, system design, system test, or marketing
Work independently and occasionally own an entire project, from beginning to end
Effectively use oscilloscope, power supplies, signal generators, and multimeters for automated test functions of manufacturing equipment
Troubleshoot issues as needed.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
5 years of experience, preferred.
Required Skills:
Experience interfacing with a cross functional team (Manufacturing, R&D, purchasing, system design, system test, marketing)
Experience interfacing with external board houses (PCB fabricators) and contract manufacturers highly desired
PCB layout and design
Proficient with use of oscilloscope, power supplies, signal generators, multimeters
Proficient with Visio, Excel, Word and strong written and verbal communication skills highly desired
Basic soldering skills required (i.e. soldering 0603, 0402, TSSOP, SOIC packages).
Experience with digital design, basic PLC and control systems
Able to create and interpret detailed electrical specifications and schematics
Strong attention to detail with an ability to work in a highly regulated environment with a strong emphasis on quality
A skilled troubleshooter and problem solver
Desired Skills:
Experience with National Instruments hardware and instrumentation
Software engineering and languages (C#.net, VB.net, LabVIEW, TestStand)
Electrical “Agency” Safety Testing experience
Experience with Cadence tools – OrCAD Schematic Capture and Allegro
Advanced soldering skills desired (BGA, QFN, QFP packages)
Experience with Manufacturer specific design tools a plus (i.e. Cypress PSOC Designer, PSOC Creator, TI Webbench, ST Micro STLink, etc.)
Experience with solder, PCBA & electrical quality standards (IPC-610)
SAP experience
