JOB SUMMARY:

  • Proficient and skilled in Design Verification & Validation process related to medical device, performs with little or no guidance.

  • Provides technical contribution within an area of expertise to lead requirement analysis, detailed verification activities for an assigned product, project or solution.  Provides guidance to other engineers on their technical issues, engages in design reviews and help resolves problems of medium complexity.

  • Develop verification and validation strategies for effective verification & validation of product.

  • Leads design verification and validation (V&V) activities for products being developed for upcoming Hill-Rom products, as well as for updates to existing products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides technical contribution within an area of expertise to lead requirement analysis, detailed verification activities for an assigned product, project.  Provides guidance to other engineers on their technical issues, engages in design reviews and help resolve problems of medium complexity.

  • Identifies technical problems in requirements, test strategies, provides innovative, creative solutions; shares technical knowledge with team.

  • Independently able to take right judgements, decisions in test strategies, verification methods, coverage of tests.

  • Shares technical knowledge with the team members and comes up with efficient test methods.

  • Optimizes test methods and resources in testing.

  • Collaborates with project team actively and suggests solution to the problems.

  • Comes up with suggestions and improvement plans in verification activities.

  • Ensures coverage of test to the requirements.

  • Uses existing tools and best practices to report and track product and process metrics.

  • Contributes as a technical reviewer in areas of design verification and validation.

  • Have broad understanding of other functional areas, especially develop expertise in Design control.

  • Work closely with System Engineer and other development engineers in reviewing Design inputs / specifications for verifiability.

  • Collaborate with System Engineer and own the development of verification plan, verification protocols and scripts based on Design Inputs.

  • Collaborate with C&S Engineer and ensure product safety tests are carried out leading to certifications.

  • Develop accurate schedules and estimate overall System V&V schedule. 

  • Develop testing tools, when required, to execute V&V.

  • Execute test scripts to ensure design output meets design input, identify design defects during verification.

  • Create defect logs and support in defect management.

  • Maintain traceability of Design Inputs to Design Verification.

  • Develop and maintain required Design History Files relating to test records, results, and issue observations.

  • Complete all applicable trainings and comply with applicable Quality System documents.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in one of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering / Electronics Engineering, or equivalent field with strong analytical thinking.

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in product verification / validation, black box testing, software / firmware testing.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Candidate shall have experience of leading multiple medical device verification and validation activities.

  • Knowledge in Lab Instrumentation.

  • Candidates shall have hands on experience with measuring & test equipment such as Data loggers, Oscilloscopes, Force gage, Load cells, Pressure sensors, Flow sensors, Pressure regulators/gauges, Calipers, Multimeter, Thermocouples and Strain gauges.

  • Working experience on LabVIEW is an added advantage

  • The candidate shall have capability to set up and configure the test system.

  • The candidate shall possess the capability to perform data analysis and write test reports.

  • Knowledge of using statistical software to analyze and graph data (Minitab) will be an added advantage.

  • Good verbal and written communication skill.

  • The candidate shall be capable of working independently

  • The candidate shall be capable of setting priorities and do multi-tasking.

  • Familiarity with FDA’s Good Documentation Practice

  • Previous experience with Medical Devices is added advantage

  • Knowledge of Medical device product development process, MDD Directives.

  • Design controls background with experience using requirements management tools such as DOORS.

  • Other Competencies:  Result Oriented, Commitment to Continuous Improvement and Effective Teamwork

  • Ability to generate alternative solutions to problems or processes.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment

  • Ability to adapt to change.
