Your role at Baxter

As a Sr. Principal Engineer, you will provide leadership and direction for the needs of Baxter’s HVAC and Mechanical Systems for Manufacturing Operations globally. In this role you will maintain knowledge of the various plant systems and requirements based on a global vision of the company along with local cGMP requirements to become the company’s recognized expert/troubleshooter of HVAC and associated Mechanical system related technical problems.

Location: preference would be local to a Baxter site but would be open to a remote candidate

What you'll be doing

  • Ensure that the controlled environments and process utilities meet cGMP standards, regulatory agency expectations, as well as Baxter internal standards and production needs.

  • Establish a consistent methodology for the design of cleanrooms and associated controlled environments. (e.g., Terminal Sterilization and Aseptic manufacturing operation requirements.).

  • Develop strategies and applications, which minimize capital costs and reduce operating costs.

  • Develop budgets for capital expenditures and ensure that these budgets, as well as project schedules and performance requirements are met.

  • Support Facility and Critical System Center of Excellence Programs: Site Energy Assessments, Lean Maintenance Program, and Site Infrastructure Assessments.

  • Provide crisis support / troubleshooting.

  • Make recommendations as to problem determination and resolution.

  • Evaluate existing HVAC and process utility system modification plans for appropriateness and compliance with company goals and requirements. 

  • Provide financial and engineering analysis of the need for repair, replacement or capacity expansion.

  • Monitor construction/installation start-up and system validation.

  • Maintain Quality Specifications and Engineering Standards for regulatory compliance and cGMP.

  • Support industrial water (cooling, steam, etc.) chemistry control needs

  • Responsible for the design, equipment selection and specification, commissioning and qualification of critical cleanroom and infrastructure systems.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred or relevant Engineering subject area.

  • Eight to ten years of experience in the design, analysis and installation of plant mechanical / utility systems is required. Operations and Maintenance of is a plus.

  • Knowledge of cGMP's, FDA guidelines, EMEA Annex 1, ISO-14644 requirements

  • Willing to travel 25-30%.
