Summary:

Utilizing a broad range of engineering expertise, focused on electrical engineering, displays standard engineering principles to resolve difficult problems, from conception to final design.Supports medical device R&D activities thru application of root cause analysis, testing, and electrical engineering tools to generate designs and drawings for release.Plans, schedules and leads project assignments in the evaluation, selection and adaptation of various engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria with minimal guidance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Using electrical engineering tools, performs electrical analysis and works on electrical schematics and layout in Altium.Additionally analyzes and generates electrical tolerancing in support of product development and sustaining product organizations.
  • Leads small projects with management oversight, and leads execution of deliverables, including protocol and report writing, running and orchestrating testing, executing analysis within the scope of larger projects.
  • Lead root cause analysis to investigate product-in field issues, including experimental and theoretical approaches.
  • Works with and at times directs the activities engineers and/or technicians.Serves as a mentor / role model for entry-level engineers.
  • Devises new approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstration and application of engineering principles on individual and small projects.Must be able to provide solutions that reflect understanding of business objectives and cost implications.
  • Display a solid understanding of engineering tools and techniques (e.g. electrical CAD and Root Cause analysis techniques) and their use in product development and manufacturing environments.
  • Capable of multi-tasking, but changes to task list or priority must be confirmed by manager or project leader.
  • Able to clearly and accurately present technical data, ideas and basic engineering concepts to peers and first-line management within the department.Comfortable with developing and delivering presentations within project team environment.
  • Effectively operates in and may facilitate cross-functional teams with guidance; collaborates with external product development teams.
  • Delivers solutions to assigned problems of basic to moderate engineering complexity including thorough documentation and clear communication.
  • Must be able to provide solutions that reflect understanding business objectives and cost implications.

Background/Experience:

  • B.S. in electrical engineering or equivalent and 3 - 5 years related experience.
  • M.S. in electrical engineering or equivalent and 0 - 3 years related experience.

Preferred:

  • Expertise in electrical analysis tools (e.g. SAW) and working knowledge of electrical computer aided design platforms (e.g. Altium).
  • Experience with sound problem solving and root cause analysis methodologies (e.g. DMAIC).Experience applying these methods on PCBAs and sensors.
  • Understanding of the medical device design process (including requirement development, design, risk analysis, and verification) for medical devices.
  • Understanding of electrical compliance testing, including Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), Radiated Immunity, and Radiated Emissions.
  • Experience with data and statistical analysis and product/process qualification; experience with Minitab, Matlab and/or other statistical analysis software.
