Job Description

Overview:

In this role, Architects bring in deep technical expertise, experience in multiple product development environments / projects, experience in leading complex projects, the ability and desire to drive strategic direction of technology portfolios, the ability and desire to do hands-on development work, and most importantly the ability and desire to mentor engineers at various levels in the organization.

Architects should be able to work independently in strategic alignment respective of the Leadership Team, without need for detailed tactical direction. Architects are amongst the key technical leaders in the organization, entrusted to tackle and solve the most important and most complex technical problems for the organization.

You will lead the development of creative solutions to challenging problems associated with the design of our new and existing infusion system product portfolio. The successful candidate will possess strong technical capabilities, an excitement and energy for product development, technology landscaping, roadmap development and a passion for their work and the impact it has on saving and sustaining the lives of patients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the development of mechanical system architectures for new products.
  • Demonstrated capability in area of mechanical design principles especially in electro-mechanical devices.
  • Responsible for defining and driving execution of pre-NPD feasibility/Exploratory projects with assigned resources.
  • Accountable for execution of domain related tasks and milestones in NPD projects.
  • Responsible for monitoring technical risk retirement and responsible for escalation of technical risk retirement concerns.
  • Responsible for product designs meeting functional, cost, and DFX (manufacturability/serviceability/Reliability/Assembly).
  • Leads troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts related to mechanical aspects of the design and interfaces with other design constituents.
  • Develop and mentor key talents & Junior engineers in area of mechanical domain.
  • Identify skill gaps within the team & opportunities to adapt new tool & processes.
  • Should plan costs associated with developing roadmaps for technologies, processes, and tools.
  • Responsible for maintaining current technology roadmaps for the domain.
  • Responsible for jointly developing product roadmaps with marketing teams.
  • Participate in formal technical design review for subsystem & at product level.
  • Responsible for maintaining IP landscapes for the domain.
  • Responsible to provide direction to resolve high technical risk and high complexity issues (risk retirement)

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering
  • 18+ years of relevant experience
  • Adept knowledge on Plastics Injection Molding, Sheetmetal & casting part designs as per mfg. guidelines.
  • Good knowledge on Plastic injection molded tooling, press tools & various manufacturing techniques.
  • Relevant experience in mechanical component and subsystem design. Good knowledge & experience on FEA tools like Ansys, Abaqus (Structural- Linear/Non-linear) & thermal analysis (Icepak)
  • Knowledge and experience using CAD systems for mechanical design and analysis (Solidworks, preferred)
  • Familiarity with Windchill PDLM, Teamcenter Unified, DOORs, HP ALM, JIRA.
  • Proven ability to create results within budget, timeline, and product/project deliverables
  • Excellent team player, self-starter, result oriented and good oral/written communication skills.
  • Experience working in global engineering teams, with global cross functional teams and supply chain.
  • Proficient experience in product life cycle from concept to post market handling.
  • Good understanding of Medical Device Design Control and Risk Management requirements
  • A proven track record of effectiveness in a fast-paced environment.  

Preferred Requirements:

  • Prior experience in the infusion pump domain.
  • Knowledge of the regulated medical equipment industry and relevant standards IEC 60601, ANSI and ASTM.
  • Good knowledge on Agile methodology (scrum) in Hardware engineering space.
  • Experience in Root cause analysis techniques, Six Sigma tools & certified Six Sigma GB/BB.
