Position Overview

  • Responsibility for development/qualification of sterilization processes for both drug products and medical devices

  • Provide input on sterility assurance/microbial control for new product development and the sustaining of existing marketed products

  • Work with product development teams, product design owners, laboratory and manufacturing personnel to complete projects

Critical Responsibilities

  • Constructing detailed, accurate project schedules, interfacing with development and technical support groups; leading teams through the planning/execution of a smaller projects or defined piece of a larger project

  • Evaluating all aspects of sterility assurance for products supported, including developing/ executing qualification plans and documenting results/conclusion

  • Devising new approaches to complex problems through adaptations/modifications of standard technical principles

  • Applying, and where necessary interpreting, sterilization standards to support the sterility assurance of Baxter products

  • Assuring all work complies with Baxter’s Quality system and cGDP/cGMP practices

  • Managing own activities/projects; provide regular updates to Sterility Assurance leadership

Key Qualifications

  • Strong engineering background and sterilization experience, e.g. moist heat, Gamma or eBeam

  • Knowledge of medical device and/or pharmaceutical sterilization, including sterilization validations

  • Knowledge of GxP manufacturing and documentation practices

  • Display a solid understanding/incorporation of theories/practices utilized by other disciplines outside primary area of expertise

  • Demonstrated results in influencing/convincing leadership on course/s of action, utilizing effective tools and communications 

  • Effectively operate in, and may facilitate, cross-functional teams with guidance 

  • Must be able to provide solutions that reflect understanding business objectives and cost implications 

  • Minimum B.S. in Engineering and 5+ years’ related experience 

  • Pharmaceutical, Medical Device or Foods manufacturing experience is desirable

  • Knowledge of moist heater and radiation sterilization is desirable
