Your role at Baxter

As an Electrical Engineer in the Sustaining Engineering group, you will take a role in supporting electrical design-related activities for a diverse line of Welch Allyn Medical Devices. Your primary focus will be to provide sustaining and continuing electrical engineering support for Welch Allyn’s product portfolio.

The Principal Electrical Engineer is a hybrid position with both on-site and remote work available.

What you'll be doing

  • Apply basic Electrical Engineering principles to problem-solving items such as component selection, component evaluation for alternatives and obsolescence, electrical circuit design, product enhancements, cost reduction projects, and technical specification development.
  • Write Test Procedures/Protocols, conduct design reviews, design Verification & Validation plans (DVVP), detailed and accurate test reports.
  • Conceive, design, and build prototypes.
  • Lead problem-solving sessions for test failures, field failures, product complaints, failure investigations, correction of reliability and field issue.
  • Understand and conduct fundamental electrical troubleshooting on electrical components, PCBA’s, power supplies, displays, batteries etc.
  • Able to communicate to staff and technologists on designs and resolutions.
  • Act as electrical team leader on multiple projects to drive engineering changes.
  • May be assigned to manage resources (technicians and/or co-ops).
  • Contribute and run design-based problem-solving on advanced electrical circuits.
  • Document designs and analyses per FDA certification process, including hardware requirements, hardware detailed design, DFMEA, Risk Analysis, and verification requirements
  • Apply standard problem-solving methodology to determine root cause and effective solutions to problems.
  • Embrace process improvement and standard work efforts.

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of proven experience.
  • Understand & proficient with analog and digital electrical circuit design.
  • Experience with digital and analog sensing technology and interfacing sensors with embedded processors
  • Proficient in RF Concepts-Network Analysis and Measurement.
  • Familiar with LF and HF RFID.
  • Background in Statistical Techniques to analyze test data. Minitab experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with engineering and analysis tools such as MathCAD, PSpice, Orcad Capture 16.6, Allegro Layout.
  • Knowledge of EMC standards including 60601 4th edition.
  • Knowledge of electrical circuit design for EMC. Experience with EMC testing, and mitigation techniques.
  • Knowledgeable with lab equipment such as oscilloscope, current probes, network analyzer, DMM, etc.
  • Previous experience in an FDA and/or ISO regulated manufacturing and design environment is strongly preferred.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career.At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices.To that end, this position has a base salary range of $88,000 to $132,000, plus an annual incentive bonus. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position.The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
