Your role at Baxter:

The Material Handler, GLC contributes to our mission of saving and sustaining lives by efficiently and accurately transporting product to and from the plant, storage areas, staging areas and trailers using a forklift with a push/pull attachment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Pick product and wrap (if necessary) from warehouse both by hand and by forklift

  • Pick and/or store pallet product in bulk locations which can be stacked up to three pallets high

  • Identify and transport pallets of product using a fork lift with a push/pull attachment to the designated area

  • Stack and secure items in position on truck or trailer to prevent damage during shipments

  • Secure trailer while loading by blocking and locking out and by sealing the trailer when completed

  • Verify and reconcile case counts by code, batch number and expiration date

  • Navigate a computerized warehouse management system and labor management system to access and manage information

  • Pre-Op the forklift and change out batteries (if required)

  • Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur

  • Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles

  • Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)

What you’ll bring:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must have basic English written and oral communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.

  • Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.

  • Must have the Level 5/6 certification

  • Must be able to perform basic mathematics.

  • Possess or be able to obtain Powered Industrial Truck Certification

  • Basic computer skills required.

  • Previous experience with a forklift preferred

  • CRC (Career Readiness Certification) at the Silver level, preferred

  • Physical Requirements

  • This position requires the continuous operation of a forklift.

  • Normal visual acuity and the ability to distinguish color are necessary

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 36 pounds up to 25 feet frequently throughout the shift

  • Must be able to push and pull up to 22 pounds up to 25 feet frequently throughout the shift

  • Must be able to pass the Powered Industrial Truck (P.I.T.) physical

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach forward, reach overhead, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch

  • Must be able to handle objects and operate controls using fine/simple/firm grasping and fingering
