  • Responsible for the development of the strategy related to Environment, Health and Safety adapted to the site and in line with applicable laws and Baxter EHS policies
  • Execute with intensity this strategy by developing and implementing:

- procedures and processes

- best practices

- and audit systems

  • Execute, with PDCA (Plan Do Check Act) approach, projects and programs to ensure the attainment of the company’s goal relative to EHSS outcomes.
  • Together with and by leading and management of the EHS team on site with articulation of the 4 cultural levers (speed, courage, simplicity and collaboration)


  • Lead the facility EHS program – focusing, for safety, on risks identifications, elimination, reduction and management (cardinal rules and others)
  • Collaborate with Corporate & Regional EHSS Leadership to implement Baxter EHSS Management System Requirements on site
  • Stay in touch with and communicate on changes in local Belgian legislation relating to environment, health and safety
  • Ensure compliance with EHSS regulations and Baxter requirements
  • Follows emerging EHSS regulations and issues
  • Handle interactions with regulatory agencies (and insurance companies).
  • Use and Apply the ISO 14001 (Environment) and the ISO45001 (Health and Safety) Management System as well as the Corporate directives and guidelines (Baxter EHS policy)
  • Ensures compliance to the EHS Manual (EHS-LE-GP-00) and associate documents
  • Use workplace, risks, near misses and accident analysis; internal and external audits; visits; safety council and employee’s feedbacks to detect opportunities and needs for continuous improvements and track actions execution in a structured way
  • Execute the EHSS Management System and ensures timely corrective actions are taken when EHS hazards are identified
  • Develop and Implement EHSS practices and procedures – Ensures EHS procedures and trainings are up to date – Lead the elaboration of the EHS training plans.
  • Communicate the business impacts of EHSS to leadership; uses influence to support EHSS compliance/programs
  • Lead different approaches to improve existing EHSS methods and techniques
  • Maintain and improve performance measurements and EHS KPI (leading)
  • Benchmark with other sites to collect and share best practices
  • Continuous improvement of the strategy and associated EHS management
  • Reports on a timely manner to Belgian authorities and Baxter corporate
  • Key actors in safety council and VLT (annual safety visits of departments)
  • Ensure the SIPP (internal service of prevention and protection) missions are completed on time in full by leading the safety advisor managing the SIPP
  • Provide a clear, coherent and frequent communication to the plant employees on environment, safety and health manner with the appropriate manor (safety flashs, Com tier 1, speakers, …)
  • Lead, manage, coach and mentor the EHS team – assign clear objectives
  • Support the safety advisor in his legal mission (resources, communication, decision, budget, SLT/CPPT approval)
  • Develop and respect the EHS department budget and energy indicators
  • Represent the company externally
  • Manage the security contingent team and contract

  • Lead the EHS Daily Tier 3 – Active contributor to the SLT meetings
  • Develop and coach EHS team members
  • Defines the training program for the EHS team members

  • University/Bachelor Degree or equivalent
  • Engineering orientation (or equivalent by experience)
  • Safety advisor level 1 or 2
  • Lean 6 sigma (Green Belt or Black belt) or equivalent project management certification is a plus


  • Number of years of experience: 8-10 years in an operational environment
  • Field of experience:       Manufacturing operations (Mandatory)

EHS (Mandatory)

                                                  Pharmaceutical (a plus)

Language skills

  • ENGLISH: fluent (spoken/written/reading)
  • FRENCH : fluent (spoken/written/reading)
