Position Summary:

The Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist works within the Digital Transformation Office to build data dashboards, graphs and visualizations that facilitate data-driven decision making. This individual will provide timely answers/ solutions utilising data and visualisation tools to answer business problems. Working collaboratively with other stakeholders, this individual will be required to take a user-centric approach to the design and implementation of solution/s focussed on adoption and intuitive design principles. They will be accountable to define appropriate metrics and performance indicators for the successful management, control and governance of the Digital Transformation Office specifically related to our PPM tools (Project Portfolio Management) tools, intake process and other related areas including development of OKR and KPI databases. Furthermore, the individual will be responsible to partner with business stakeholders capturing requirements for improvements and enhancements. Key responsibilities include;

  • The development and management of dashboards for key stakeholder groups in the digital transformation (e.g., global digital council, DTO project management)

  • Working with stakeholders to capture requirements and design mock-ups acting as a translator to connect desired outcomes with analytics and KPIs

  • Manage backlog and prioritize dashboard development based on exp. impact and feasibility

  • Set up dashboards (together with team)

  • Manage and update dashboards based on user feedback

  • Provide insights and actionable recommendations (interpretation of results)

  • Working closely with the Digital Operations team managing the backlog of activities and developing roadmaps of releases.

This individual will also leverage digital approaches to increase organizational capability, improve operational robustness, and foster a “digital culture” all to better serve our patients.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Understands business requirements in a Business Intelligence (BI) context and designs data models to transform raw data into meaningful insights.

  • Subject-matter-expert with hands-on working skills with Tableau and Power BI.

  • Develops and implements design principles in Tableau and Power BI.

  • Performs VizQL queries and functions in Tableau. Performs DAX queries and functions in Power BI.

  • Translates needs into meaningful and actionable data visualizations.

  • Standardizes data collection by developing methods for database design and validation.

  • Extracts data from databases and data warehouses for reporting and to facilitate sharing between multiple data systems.

  • Creates customized charts, dashboards and calculations per user requirements.

  • Performs data analysis, data validation, data mapping/design, by accessing multiple sources, specifically data residing in data warehouses.

  • Uses SQL, Excel VBA or Python tools to automate reports and data ingestion processes.

  • Reviews internal data processes and systems and identifies opportunities for improvement.

  • Analyzes data and identifies data gaps and/or data integrity issues.

  • Develops and deploys Tableau and Power BI applications.

  • Completes related projects as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Experience with design, developing and maintaining BI self-service reports and dashboards, identifying KPIs to allow users understand the drivers behind results, predict future outcomes and perform "what if" analysis.

  • Experience with partnering with IT and other functions to support agile project development and short cycle iterations to deliver continuous business value.

  • Experience with designing complex management reports and interactive dashboards with drill-down to detail and analysis pathways to supporting reports and datasets.

  • Experience with leveraging Power BI's advanced functionality to create data-rich dashboards, writing DAX expressions and implementing security.

  • Experience with format query results/reports in various ways.

  • Demonstrated "hands-on" experience as a Tableau and Power BI designer and analyst.

  • Experience with developing a strong understanding of business and operational requirements while working with users to define specific processes, workflows and/or other technical requirements.

  • Experience with leverage Tableau's advanced functionality (e.g., parameters, actions, tooltip modifications, etc.) to create analytical dashboards.

  • Experience with develop custom BI outputs that require knowledge of scripting and programming languages such as R and Python.

  • Experience with developing ad-hoc reporting for diverse business problems.

  • Ability to execute data queries across multiple data sources in support of business intelligence reporting needs.

  • Ability to adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation and documentation.

  • Excellent writing and oral communications skills with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to details with a strong relationship management and collaboration skills

  • 5+ years in business intelligence/digital positions with past experience of successfully setting up business intelligence for specific projects/transformations

  • BSc in Business Administration, Statistics, or similar. MBA preferred

  • Relevant experience in the pharmaceutical and/or medical device sectors is a strong plus 

  • Experience in a similar role would be advantageous.

  • Microsoft BI and Tableau related certifications highly desirable.
