Job Title:                                  Quality Lab Technician 

About Baxter’s Cleveland, MS Facility:

  • Cleveland’s technology and automation are cutting edge.  It is the U.S. sole source for plastic pour bottles, glass IV, and various reconstitution devices.   This facility has a number of major product lines with a diverse array of automated manufacturing technologies ranging from bottle solution filling, injection molding, and device assembly.

Department:                            050 – Micro Lab                                                                                                                   

JOB DUTIES:

  • Aseptically pull and process the following samples from controlled environmental areas:

Compressed Air

  • Micro Air
  • Surfaces
  • Distilled and Non-Distilled Water
  • Particle Counts (Room Air and Hoods)
  • Sterilizer Cooling Water
  • LAF velocities

  • Prepare media and reagents used within the lab.
  •      Use lab instruments (i.e. autoclave, pH meter, air sampler particle counter).
  • Perform area audits.
  • Schedule and prioritize daily work load efficiently.
  • Must be able to perform bioburden testing on finished product.
  • Perform sample test result evaluation and implement corrective action when necessary.
  • Perform sterility testing.
  • Perform particle analysis.
  • Perform required documentation.
  • Perform computer data entry.
  • Perform gram stains.
  • Perform filter integrity testing.
  • Perform HEPA Aerosol testing.
  • Must have knowledge of both plant and department environmental health and safety regulations and comply with said regulations accordingly.
  • Must perform all other duties and responsibilities as determined by supervision/management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The applicant should be able to demonstrate/possess the following characteristics:

  • Meet visual acuity requirements as documented in Baxter Cleveland Human Resources Procedures 1.04.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to lift above the shoulder up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to reach above the shoulder
  • Ability to bend/stoop
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in unfavorable conditions (hot/cold temperatures)
  • Ability to pass color blindness test

Work Performance:

  • Low absenteeism
  • Work well without close supervision
  • Ability and willingness to cross-train within the area
  • Self-motivated and investigative nature (i.e., troubleshoot when problems occur)
  • Be able to accept constructive criticism
  • Ability to plan, organize and make decisions

  • Ability to kneel, climb or lift equipment/boxes

Documentation:

  • Knowledge of specification system
  • Ability to review and interpret specifications and SOPs
  • Ability to make SOP and form changes
  • Ability to write SOPs for area of responsibility
  • Ability to perform per GQP-04-10 and appropriate specifications

Communications:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact within different levels of the organization.

Technical:

  • Knowledge of measurement methods
  • Mathematical aptitude (for calculations and dilutions)
  • Computer skills.

Education:

  • Associate degree in a related discipline or equivalent work plus 1 year related experience.
