Hillrom Care Communications produces medical solutions to empower clinical communication and collaboration and promote patient safety and satisfaction in the acute care hospital environment.
The Senior Engineer is responsible for the development and maintenance of multiple back end services. The Senior Engineer is involved in all phases of the software development lifecycle. Within their team, they provide strong technical leadership across all layers of the application. A commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality products is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Requirement decomposition, detailed technical design, and development activities for multiple C# based Windows services.
Ensures the performance, quality, and responsiveness of the application
Completes detailed, high-quality technical documentation to capture and communicate designs.
Works with the quality engineering team to help determine effective test and regression strategies for the application based on change impact assessment
Assists with the troubleshooting of difficult customer issues that cannot be resolved by the technical support team
Helps to ensure that development activities are in line with a medical process – inclusive of required technical documentation such as software design documents and technical interface specifications
Responsible for individual development activities (including integration testing) and providing technical guidance to others on the team.
Required Qualifications
5+ years experience in software development with at least 3 years of C# service development
BS Degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.) or equivalent certification/credentials
Experience with threading, performance, and memory tuning
Experience with designing and consuming RESTful APIs
Experience with Enterprise-grade messaging bus communication and interservice communication
Knowledge of SQL Server or equivalent DBMS
Proficient understanding of Git
Knack for benchmarking and optimization
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the medical device industry or any other regulated product line
Experience working on an application that was part of a larger product portfolio including hardware, embedded systems, network communications, web services, and 3rd party integrations
Knowledge of other web technologies and UI/UX standards
Familiarity with containerized applications, preferably Kubernetes
Familiarity with Postgres and Database Encryption
Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops and CI/CD pipelines
Familiarity with Cloud architecture and multi-tenancy
Comfortable being involved in customer or 3rd party partner calls as a technical subject matter expert for the application
