Summary:
An Engineer II is responsible for continuous improvement, floor support and troubleshooting as required on assigned filling lines and processes (both mechanical and electrical). An Engineer II will be responsible for development of requirements specifications, technical specifications, design specifications, validation protocols, and change control records. This position will work with Program Managers to facilitate new product introduction to the site (vendor relations, procurement, installation, and validation) and achieving both budget and timeline requirements. This position reports to the Manager of Engineering.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (these are primary responsibilities of the role and the incumbent will perform other duties as assigned):
- Support Manufacturing Department by troubleshooting equipment and systems, and providing daily support on assigned line(s).
- Perform process reviews and prepare technical reports detailing equipment operation, best practices and recommended changes.
- Review equipment trends to identify areas of improvement related to yield, downtime, efficiency, etc.
- Support the specification, procurement, installation, setup, and validation of equipment necessary to introduce new projects to the manufacturing lines (processes and equipment).
- Author and execute test and validation protocols for FAT, SAT, IQ and OQ.
- Perform validation maintenance reviews of process and utility systems.
- Evaluate and recommend products, components, and systems for process improvement/cost savings

- Require little direction, works on technical projects, and has sufficient knowledge within area of functional responsibility.
- Must have positive attitude, critical thinking and clear decision making skills.
- Must be able to multi-task, prioritize projects and complete projects on-time within budget.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Qualifications):
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required.
- 1-3 years engineering and/or project management experience.
- Knowledge of the basic principles in various engineering disciplines. Automation experience preferred.
- Must be able to lead and execute engineering projects.
- Experience with filling machines (vial, syringe, and cartridge), and associated process systems is preferred.
- Prior experience in aseptic manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with PLC, HMI, Vision Systems and SCADA systems preferred.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ok and the ability to use enterprise software (examples include: JDE, BPLM, Pilgrim, Trackwise, etc.)
- Must be able to read building, utility, mechanical and electrical drawings.
- AutoCAD, SolidWorks or equivalent component design knowledge.
Physical / Safety Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Duties may require overtime work, including nights and weekends.
- Use of hands and fingers to manipulate office equipment is required
- Position requires sitting or standing for long hours.
- Must be able to gown qualify for Grade A/B areas.
