Your Role at Baxter:
Baxter’s Respiratory Health business unit products expand therapies to better help patients and
physicians to manage chronic or acute respiratory and cardiac diseases (COPD, CHF, etc.). The earlier the treatment for these patients – the better the quality of life. The $150M business portfolio includes products for airway clearance and ventilation.
The role of Senior Software Engineer is to make technical contribution in Sustaining engineering activities by providing technical contribution within an area of expertise to lead requirement, analysis, detailed design and verification activities for an assigned product, project or solution. The successful candidate will possess solid “hands-on” technical abilities, an excitement and energy for product development, and a passion for their work and the impact it has on meeting the needs of patients.
This position is based out of Bangalore and reporting to the Software Manager for Respiratory Health division of Front Line Care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- A solid technical understanding of the principles and procedures of software engineering (e.g., SDLC, IEC 62304, CMMI, Agile).
- Experience with application software development.
- Be passionate about software quality and be prepared to advocate on behalf of good processes and best practices.
- Ability to discuss normally encountered technical or project management issues, both verbally and in written form.
- Ability to work as a collaborative team member.
- Lead a set of components within the sub-system and drive the end2end responsibility for the same
- Design and Develop core platform features independently with high quality and able to mentor/coach other junior people in the team to drive outcomes
- Responsible for the design & development of the subsystem features that would include activities like proposing the design alternatives, organizing the reviews, provide workload estimation, design documentation & continuous updates to the Platform Leader on the progress.
- Incorporates business, market, industry and competitive knowledge into technical solutions that can be readily adapted to changes in technology and/or clinical use.
- Generates alternatives and takes reasonable risks while solving technical problems.
- Work and collaborate closely with Project Manager to define and solve engineering changes/problems to make products that meet all performance and functional criteria within required project schedule, with minimum guidance.
- Participate or lead in design/change reviews with the Sustaining Team and Engineering Change Board – justify design detail and collaborate with other team members
- Completes detailed, high quality technical documentation of product designs through the generation and maintenance of design requirement specifications, engineering prints, material specifications and bills-of-materials
- Seeks knowledge of the business, market, industry and competitive environment.
- Uses existing engineering tools and best practices to report and track product and process metrics.
- Challenges project teams and established work processes and proactively finds creative methods to reach desired performance levels
- Informs others proactively about developments or issues that affect their work, and their ability to meet commitments.
- Process and review system-level requirements and translate them into software requirements specifications.
- Develop test plans, then test the implemented code.
- Document the design and generate FMEA.
- Collaborate with internal and/or external parties in the development, improvement, and maintenance products.
- Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective / Preventive action as needed.
Your Team:
You will be reporting to Software Manager for Respiratory Health. This position does not have any direct reports. You will need to work collaboratively with R&D and cross functions.
Your Location:
The role is located in the BRD facility in Bangalore India.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer/ Electronics Engineering, Computer Science with 5 to 10 years of work experience in Digital SW development.
- Experience in at least one complete digital software development life cycle from concept to release.
- Broad understanding of many technological areas below:
- Analysis and Design: Object oriented architecture, Design Patterns, UML
- Programming Languages/Backend: Java (Java Spring Boot 1.5, Spring Tool Suite 4.4.12, Spring Framework 4.3.24, JDK 8, Apache Tomcat), Python, node js, any mobile app development language (iOS Swift 4.0, Kotlin)
- Programming and Framework Client: HTML5, Javascript, Flutter Framework (or any other mobile framework), JQuery, Angular JS, ReactJS, AngularJS, React Bootstrap, React PDF, Crypto JS, SCSS
- Enterprise Integration: Design patterns for enterprise integration, SOA, SOAP/REST, Microservices, Web portal API (REST APIs)
- Middleware: Apache Tomcat, Windows Server, Linux, etc.
- Development and Continuous Integration: Eclipse, SVN, Git, JIRA, Fisheye, Sonar, Clover, etc.
- Database: Oracle, Mysql
- Unit Testing: Junits
- Demonstrate significant technical contribution to the projects.
- Experience of deliver documentation on software module design, test plan, test case, FMEA and task effort estimation in creating digital applications.
- Knowledge of IoT, Cloud, Mobile App development and Cybersecurity technology will be an advantage.
- Experience with Medical Devices and FDA Regulations will be an advantage.
- Knowledge in Software Design Pattern.
- Strong communication (written and verbal), documentation and presentation skills.
- Strong debugging/problem-solving skills.
- Good teamwork skill with can do attitude.
- Thirst to constantly learn about new technologies and ways to improve.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
- Demonstrated experience in accomplishing objectives. Able to deliver on multiple projects simultaneously
