SUMMARY:

Packaging engineer is a key member of the Manufacturing organization at Baxter, sustaining and continuing the development of all manufacturing and support processes. Especially all the process where a package design, packaging operation or packaging system is required or used. Collaborating with Engineering, maintenance, OPEX & Quality department to ensure Packaging Integrity and Expected Product Performance is achieved.

The Packaging Engineer has responsibility for daily packaging operations included but not limited to Packaging Technology, interaction between Packaging Technology and Other Role, Final Packaging Inspection Operations and Process Flow. They are also responsible for equipment performance, quality, output and continuous improvement through OEE.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Deals with associates, materials and equipment problems (opportunities) related to packaging.
•    Implement improvements of packaging machines using Lean tools such as SMED.
•    Keep process monitoring on quality and performance targets following PPDC Monitoring Process.
•    Develop and establish process improvement across EMS tools and Tier Meetings.
•    Evaluates complaints data and participate actively in the root cause analysis.
•    Comply with EHS/GMP/GDP/company and corporate policies and external regulatory requirements
•    Will have a key role in daily manufacturing operations, implementing reactive, preventative and process development Packaging related tasks.
•    Work close with Maintenance reviewing and developing for Packaging Technology, tasks to ensure plant reliability and minimize down time, effective reporting and data collection to improve departmental performance.
•    Ensure the correct spare parts for all the packaging technology and systems, are set up in the Stock Room.
•    Identify continuous improvement initiatives through trending and system knowledge.
•    Engineering/Transfer Project support and collaboration. 
•    Drive packaging projects for cost savings.
•    Execute Process or Product validations (FOC / COB) using Local engineering resources with coordination with the different departments (Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, etc.). 
•    Perform root cause analysis related to CAPAs, Process Defects, Detractors and Audits Finding.
•    Learn and practice basic ergonomic principles to reduce job-related discomfort and injuries.
•    Observes all company and regulatory EHS requirements.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering.

Fully computer knowledge (MS package, MS Project)

(2-4) years of experience in related field required.

LANGUAGE:

Bilingual (Spanish and English) Oral and Writing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
  • Familiar with electromechanical systems.
  • Capable of effectively identifying and proactively resolving technical issues by direct intervention.
  • The ability to think analytically.
  • Previous experience in the medical manufacturing industry would be advantageous.
  • Packaging previous experience is desirable.
  • Process control experience.
  • Working to deadlines and able to follow instructions.
