Summary of Responsibilities

We are currently looking for a energetic, hard-working Production Technician to work a temporary part-time assignment with the possibility of extension or permanent status in the future on our weekend night shift at our Alliston facility. Starting wage is $18 plus applicable shift premium.

The Production Technician, Mixing is responsible for mixing batches of intravenous solution along with performing set-up, adjustments and troubleshooting equipment to produce a quality product in a safe and efficient manner. Making solution filters, and connecting pumps and filters to the proper filling line, along with cleaning tanks, pipework and all other equipment used in the department. They are also responsible for weighing out chemicals, sanitize and set up equipment to ensure materials and parts flow smoothly in the process.  

Employees will be assessed throughout the program and their job performance to ensure they are successfully learning the necessary skills and qualifications. In order to achieve this, we will be partnering with local educational institutions to develop and implement a comprehensive training program for operators to successfully troubleshoot, maintain and set up the equipment.

Due to the nature of our business, Baxter follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) which requires our employees to focus on cleanliness and contamination control. Other aspects of GMP that must be observed are no makeup or jewelry in the production areas

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mixing Batches of intravenous solutions.
  • Preforming set-up, adjustments and troubleshooting equipment to product a quality product in a safe and efficient manner and be able to partner with Maintenance as necessary
  • Making solution filters and connecting pumps and filters to the proper filling line.
  • Cleaning tanks, pipework and all other equipment used in each department.
  • Weighing out chemicals, sanitize and set up equipment to ensure materials and part flow smoothly in the process.
  • Lock out procedures must be used when cleaning the tanks.
  • Successfully learning the necessary skills and qualifications by partnering with local educational institutions to develop and implement a comprehensive training program for operators to successfully troubleshoot, maintain and set up the equipment.
  • Ensuring machines are supplied with appropriate material
  • Calculate the solution volumes and bag counts for the line

Job Requirements

  • Successful completion of High School diploma or GED required (Proof will be requested)
  • Proven ability to work independently and self-motivated to achieve results with minimal supervision
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent technical ability with proven problem solving skills
  • Quality focus
  • Experience doing repetitive tasks
  • Fast-paced environment, high pressure
  • Ability to work in noisy and warm, wet conditions; also heavy lifting involved.
  • Must pass ergonomic assessment to ensure ability to perform bonafide essential job duties
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience
  • Demonstrated good attendance record in present position.
  • Demonstrated good performance & good quality in present position.
  • Demonstrated good attitude utilizing Baxter Shared Commitment’s.
  • Strong “can do” attitude, presenting a positive and optimistic approach to problem solving
  • Experience in successfully trouble shooting mechanical problems with a strong mechanical aptitude and creativity
  • Experience in working effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Proven ability to be proactive and self-motivated on the job
  • Demonstrated ability to document data correctly per CA GPP 80.
  • Must have the ability to comprehend Baxter Specifications / SOP’s and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours outside of core shift, overtime
  • Ability to enter tanks for inspection and cleaning. (Confined Space entry)
  • Ability to work in noisy and warm, wet conditions; also heavy lifting involved.
  • Equipment and tools used: Electronic scales, balance scales, hand cart, bubble point testing equipment, wash troughs, agitators, pumps, filters, and load cells, System AS400, BMTS, EBR
