Your role at Baxter
In this role you will build and lead a department vision that aligns with Baxter's vision or strategic plan and assess and give direction to technical staff on complex design concepts. In this position you will have a solid understanding of theories and practices of a variety of disciplines to manage sophisticated projects or programs within boundaries of quality, time, and budget. This role is acknowledged outside of the business unit for input on programs of some magnitude and exhibits creativity and innovation in completing divisional and multi-functional/business unit responsibilities.

What you'll be doing
- Lead and develop a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to help them achieve their goals.
- Collaborate with versatile teams to define product requirements, develop technical strategies, and drive project execution.
- Create and establish engineering processes, standards, and guidelines to ensure high-quality, efficient, and scalable solutions.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful delivery of projects.
- Lead the development and integration of project strategies which may cross several teams; evaluate alternatives against agreed criteria. With team, select strategies and appropriate level of risk and understanding full range of implications across the system.
- Drive automation support initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce manual labor, and optimize production processes.
- Apply niche knowledge in a creative way to a broad range of difficult problems.
- Review and analyze proposals to determine if benefits derived and possible applications rationalize expenditures. Approve and submit proposals to Sr. Management. Responsible for preparation of project cost estimates up to multimillion-dollar range. Manages and forecasts all project expenditures and cost tracking.
- Responsible for policy setting and defining procedures for the staff in accomplishing and documenting projects. Assist in the development of overall engineering department policy.
- Approve protocols and support documentation (engineering change requests, system change forms, etc.) in order to secure project release. Develop staff members to assume technical approver role.
- Develop strategic resource plans from multiple global locations and engineering resources.
What you'll bring
- BS in relevant engineering discipline, MS preferred and at least 10 or more years of relevant experience.
- Must be proficient in engineering subject areas (e.g. fluid flow, thermodynamics, heat transfer, engineering materials).
- Knowledge of GMPs, FDA guidelines, purchasing practices and process validation and relevant code.
- Must be self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.
- Ability to lead multiple multi-functional teams simultaneously.
- Ability to shape and influence outside of immediate scope of responsibility.
- Maintain industry contacts and be involved in industry interest groups.
- Demonstrated proficiency in management/leadership roles.
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $144,000 to $198,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change.
