What you'll be doing
Provide engineering support to the manufacturing mold shop to achieve a proactive schedule meeting the quality requirements with the Preventive Maintenance Program. Directs and coordinates all manufacturing support shop activities, improvement projects and new equipment implementation in the Molding area to align with corporate standards.
Performs standard engineering assignments and activities by guiding the support of a Mold Shop that serves different Injection Molding Machines sets: Dryers, Mixers, Injection Machines (Hydraulic and Electric). Support is intended, but not limited to the Preventive Maintenance Program, Mold inventory and installation/removal schedule in hand with the Manufacturing Leaders and Supply Chain teams, budget/capital controls and spending reports, programming, repairs and improvements of equipment and recommendations for equipment replacement priorities aligned with suppliers sustainability, strategies team projects and business continuity.
This position directly reports to Manufacturing Manager but it will collaboratively work with Quality, OPex, Process and Product Engineering as also with the Facilities teams with a Customer oriented philosophy that will bring operational excellence to the area. It also uses Lean Manufacturing tolls and techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations under direction of manager. Assess results for application, validity and conformance to specifications.
Prepares and controls the capital working budget for Manufacturing Projects.
Use engineering tools to solve straightforward problems (e.g., PFMEA, Data analysis).
Monitor and report project costs including capital and cross-functional expenses. Estimate cost affected by design and/or policy changes. With manager, recommend capital expenditure and production methods for existing or enhanced products or processes.
With manager, formulate and recommend engineering policies and technical work in accordance with project and business objectives.
Provide supervision to engineers, technicians, technologist as day to day and as part of maintenance activities.
Write, execute and/or support SAT, FAT, IQ, and Software Validation Protocols.
What you'll bring
Minimum of BSIE or BSME and 5-7 years related experience in an Injection Molding manufacturing or Tool/Shop engineer in a closely related tooling industry.
Must have Mold Design Certificate. Good managerial and communication skills. Preferred experience with TQM methods (e.g. "six sigma"). Display a solid technical understanding of engineering principles and procedures (e.g. CAD and its application or scheduling a series of technical tasks utilizing software-based tools such as MS Project). Understand and articulate how own role ties within function or discipline. Required Demonstration of engineering principles application on individual small projects. The position involves necessary administrative process like computer systems documentation; manufacturing performance monitoring and service rendered reporting.
Bilingual: (English and Spanish). Shall have proficient written and oral communication skills.
