Summary

 

·       The Principal Engineer is to display standard engineering principles to resolve difficult problems, from conception to final design with team input.

·       The Principal Engineer is to Plan, schedule and lead project assignments in the evaluation, selection and adaptation of various engineering techniques, procedures and criteria with minimal guidance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities. 

 

·       With minimal guidance, the principal engineer schedules and leads a team through the planning and execution of a project. This includes constructing detailed, accurate project schedules, interfacing with development groups and technical support groups.

·       The principal engineer devises new approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles.

·       The principal engineer is able to prioritize multiple tasks.

·       The principal engineer supervises/coordinates a Snr Engineer/Engineer and/or technicians on assigned work.

Qualifications

Qualifications. 

 

Functional/specific competencies:

·       In order to keep up to date with procedures relating to product development the Principal R&D Engineer shall be expected to sustian current product portfolio and also aid in the development of new products as reuqired.

·       The Principal R&D Engineer will provide guidance to design of new components, device configuration or improvements in the moulding/extrusion processes.

·       The Principal R&D Engineer shall ensure that the right choices are being made with regards material selections, supplier selection, within the Baxter Malta plant.

·       The Principal R&D Engineer shall be instrumental in the definition of moulding/extrusion processes requirements.

·       The Principal R&D Engineer shall guide as needed aspects wherever transfer of equipment / processes takes place

·       The Principal R&D Engineer will be responsible for the development and guidance through projects of R&D personnel as follows:

·       Follow Baxter relevant CQPs and program development operating procedures.

·       Preparation of feasibility studies and design reviews.

·       Identification and co-ordination of any necessary modifications.

·       The Principal R&D Engineer will also be responsible for the creation and assignment of projects, which will contribute to the R&D department’s target for Quality Improvement Projects, SNCs coordination, Value Improvement Program.

 

Technical Skills

·       The Principal R & D Engineer – shall be responsible for the development, construction, verification, validation and implementation of all product changes and improvements in relation also to production machinery and related equipment to Extrusion Process/ RF Welding Process/ Automated Assembly Process & Moulding Technologies.

·       Verification and Validation Activities are to be carried out in accordance with ISO Standards, CE Norms and Baxter’s Quality Manual

The Principal engineer shall be responsible for the project management activities of the projects he is assigned to; incorporating timely deadlines and targets for various tasks, while at the same time meeting all requirements specified by the Design Control Methodology Process (DCM).
