Position Overview

Primary purpose of the Director, Supply Chain role includes directing the planning, procurement and purchasing of raw materials, packaging components, spare parts, supplies and services necessary for the manufacture of Baxter Guayama products. Role purpose also includes directing the planning, and scheduling of the synthetic manufacturing operation in order to maintain corporate desired yield and inventory levels.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable transportation, import, export and Foreign Trade Zones regulations.  Direction of all aspects related to warehousing, receiving and shipping as well as customer orders processing.
  • Purchasing - Maintain solid and cost effective supply chain and business relationship with supplies.
  • Shipping and Receiving - Provide plant with product shipment plans, which are at low cost and safe; receive materials in a cost efficient manner.
  • Operation of Foreign Trade Zone, Product Storing and distribution in accordance with all applicable regulations (DOT, IATA, OSHA, FDA, Export, Import, Foreign Trade Zone, etc.).  Provide plant with systems that assure storing and distribution will be performed according to all applicable regulations.
  • Production Planning and Inventory Control - Maintain system for manufacturing yield calculation and inventory control.
  • Safety - Maintain safety conditions in all related areas such as warehouse, tank farm and drum storage.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Knowledge of financial management concepts applied to a manufacturing environment.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree, from an accredited institution, preferably in a Science or Business Administration. MBA or Master in Science in business preferred.
  • 12+ years Industry experience (5-7 years in supervisor/managerial experience) with at least 5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in all aspects of the manufacturing process in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or comparable environment.
  • APICS certification like CPIM or CSCP preferred.
  • Understanding and executed key concept like KanBan, MRP, Inventory reduction initiatives and S&OP process implementations
  • Experience with Lean and Six sigma methodologies
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
