This position will be responsible for supporting Global Marketing and Advertising, Global Market Research, Print Services, Global Card Programs, Corporate Communications, and other Business Services.  This individual will need to be able to drive complex negotiations, define strategy, manage supplier relationships and support key stakeholders to improve service levels and reduce total costs.  Key responsibilities include:

1) Design and implement sourcing and category management strategies and develop internal/supplier relationships that extract maximum value from the current and potential supplier base.
 
2) Lead the supplier selection and contract negotiation process and achieve best value by: (a) leading the appropriate sourcing process for new contracts, (b) executing the contract negotiation strategy and (c) leading the contract implementation and the identification of opportunities for expanded supplier relationships.
 
3) Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders to establish annual goals, forecasted spend, savings expectations and performance objectives.
 
4) Monitor category and/or supplier spending, both in aggregate and via patterns/cycles, and continuously evaluate options to reduce total cost of ownership. Monitor compliance to preferred agencies.  In depth understanding of suppliers capabilities, capacity and overall financial stability.
 
5) Stimulate and support product innovation; develop market intelligence and benchmarking; act as subject matter expert in commodity and supplier market dynamics; proactively identify new markets and supplier sources.
 
6) Develop and manage working relationships with both internal Baxter functions and suppliers to manage resolution of supplier issues.
 
7) Drive implementation of the Baxter Supplier Quality Standard and develop strong, ethical relationships with world-class suppliers consistent with Baxter Shared Values and Baxter's Business Practice Standard for Suppliers.
 
8)  Utilize a network to drive best demonstrated practices across the categories and implement globally.

Qualifications

1) Bachelor's Degree 2) MBA desirable 3) C.P.M. and A.P.P. desirable 4) Ability to think strategically and globally 5) Excellent project management, facilitation, interpersonal and negotiation skills 6) Financial acumen; high degree of ethics 7) Ability to build strategic supplier relationships 8) Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment 9) Minimum of 7-10 years overall business and/or purchasing experience.
