Summary
 
Reporting directly to ACI director, build, manage, and develop an analytical lab and a motivated team of scientists in Advanced Chemistry & Investigations (ACI) in the areas of Extractables & Leachables, Elemental Impurities, and Structure Elucidation. Contribute to the vision and strategic planning of global ACI. Inspire team to act in a manner consistent with that vision. Maintain state-of-the-art technology and ensure compliance in the ACI Bangalore lab. Collaborate with global subject matter experts to meet the needs of partners across Baxter’s Global Business Units. Balance utilization of resources to: sustain products, support development of new products, contribute to investigations, and drive specific innovation initiatives to position the organization for the future. Identify and mitigate risks relating to team deliverables and communicate accordingly. Build a professional network within the business unit, across units and outside of Baxter.
 
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Select, develop and retain team. Define and communicate criteria by which team and individual success will be measured. identify opportunities to cross-train, back-fill. Provide constructive feedback and recognition. Effectively coach, mentor and motivate others for outstanding performance. 
  • Regional point of contact for the global ACI organization.
  • Optimize effectiveness and operational efficiency through management of team members and project management tools. Review and apply best-demonstrated practices.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of subject matter experts to generate innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Create innovative products/processes/methods through novel combinations of expertise within the organization. 
  • Collaborate with other functional leaders and project managers to ensure project priorities and project schedules are met. 
  • Oversee qualification of analytical instrumentation to appropriate standards.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant Quality System Regulations, cGXP, and other regulatory requirements to ensure compliance in all research, data collection and reporting activities.  Oversee qualification of analytical instrumentation to appropriate standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be well-versed in analytical chemistry, spectroscopy, and impurity quantitation and characterization, structure elucidation and possess knowledge in related disciplines. Must be able to critically analyze complex data.
  • Must possess an understanding of chromatography, mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and plasma spectroscopy.
  • 4+ years’ relevant managerial experience with an advanced degree in a chemistry-related field.
  • Technical, managerial, leadership, and strategic strengths are all important for this role.
