Position Overview


As a member of Baxter’s Pharmaceuticals group, you will accelerate growth by helping develop and execute an aggressive marketing and growth strategy for Baxter’s Pharmaceuticals Global Business Unit (“GBU”).  Marketing responsibilities include portfolio optimization, molecule selection; driving key growth initiatives including identification and evaluation of differentiated products, technologies and drug delivery platforms; and working closely with R&D and business development to drive new molecule development and inorganic growth opportunities.  Will lead the Pharmaceutical generic injectable marketing team.  Seeking talented individual with strong pharmaceutical background and expertise in generic injectables.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Leading the therapeutic area strategies and execution for Generic Pharmaceuticals, including molecule selection, developing commercial plans, executing key marketing initiatives and delivering on overall financial results.
  2. Oversee injectable portfolio for anti-infective, oncology, cardiovascular and specialty care therapeutic areas including developing and executing growth initiatives for existing molecules and identifying and working with R&D and business development to expand the portfolio via internal development and acquisition of new molecules.
  3. Oversee team of three to drive growth and work with cross-functional teams (including R&D, finance, regulatory, etc.) on new product development efforts for the portfolio, including geographic expansion and lifecycle management activities.
  4. Develop aggressive growth plans and set growth targets for Therapeutic Area managers.  Execute on proactive molecule development and BD&L strategies to drive growth. 
  5. Monitor and evaluate external competitive environment to proactively identify opportunities and help mitigate threats to existing portfolio and pipeline.   Help manage internal competitive intelligence resources.
  6. Help create, manage and drive key business metrics, KPIs and other analyses for key stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Strong pharmaceutical background.  Combination of technical (e.g. pharmacist) and commercial (e.g. pharmaceutical marketing or business development) experience preferred.
  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative assessment skills, critical thinking skills, and ability to develop strategic plans and business cases.
  • Strong leadership skills.  Ability to facilitate and manage cross-functional teams.  Strong presentation and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of external healthcare business environment along with an understanding of competitive history and ability to forecast potential next moves.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, finance, marketing, business or science/technology required.  Pharmacy degree, MBA or PhD in science preferred. 
  • Experience in the Healthcare industry and specifically generic Injectables
  • Requires ten or more solid years of business experience and / or pharmacy experience;  ideally includes five or more years experience managing generic injectable marketing teams.
