The Communications Associate will be part of a fast-paced and collaborative marketing team, helping to strengthen the value of BCU brand and member experiences through persistent support of communications strategies and marketing project management, particularly in the areas of B2C, internal, multi/social media, and public relations messaging.
We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented communications professional and enthusiastic brand-culture leader with exceptional copywriting skills. This individual should have experience in developing cross-channel communications strategies, creating compelling communications, PR, and product marketing materials, and using creative thinking to create exceptional brand experiences!
  1. Serve as primary resource for Brand & Communications, Marketing and other functions for copywriting, editing, proofing and reviewing content to drive communication and marketing strategies that support organizational programs, initiatives, priorities, and efforts to successfully convey the BCU brand.
  2. Develop and maintain defined communication standards and objectives for content, messaging and delivery of communication efforts to remain accurate, current, consistent, high quality and aligned with defined BCU brand standards.
  3. Serve as the lead resource for managing and developing BCU’s internal communications by collaborating and consulting with appropriate departments for the purpose of gathering and/or presenting information, determining needs, recommending specific solutions and translating insights into effective key messaging and delivery.
  4. Plan and lead development of weekly staff email newsletter, including managing and sourcing content, writing & editing, managing distribution and more.
  5. Responsible for maintaining content and regular updates of BCU’s intranet homepage (SharePoint), including content planning, creation and publishing
  6. Lead review process to evaluate and source change of existing member communications to identify and eliminate gaps, make recommendations and implement changes and identify ways that communications can be improved to strengthen member relationships.
  7. Assist in the development of strategies to improve the public image and visibility of the BCU brand; proactively and aggressively seek opportunities to develop strong relationships with key media and industry contacts and work to maximize the visibility of PR function and media and promote a positive image of the CU by identifying


  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Min 2 years’ experience in communications, marketing, and public relations required; financial services industry preferred.
  • Exceptional copywriting skills
  • Experience with cross-channel copy maximization, including web, email, social media, video and print.
  • Editorial background and video-scripting experience a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint preferred.
  • CMS (content management system) experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office platform required.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud a plus.
