Sr. Communications Specialist

Individual will play a key role in driving awareness of Baxter Canada’s leadership in medical devices and therapies among key internal and external stakeholders. This is primarily achieved through the development and execution of traditional and non-traditional news media and other internal platforms. In addition, this individual will support and contribute to the overall development and execution of an annual communication plan for Baxter Canada.
Help identify opportunities to proactively promote Baxter’s products, therapies and thought leadership in traditional and social media. Individual will be responsible for pitching and securing media placements, and measuring impact of media activities. Individual will develop press releases to promote key milestones and events.
Develop integrated messages for internal and external audiences aligned to corporate, brand, product and therapy messaging. Understand Baxter’s brand guidelines and support internal stakeholder education and alignment. Create Q&A and media statements, among other materials, on a wide range of topics and issues, including research, drafting and editing.
Advocacy Support and CSR:
Working with business partners, develop advocacy plans to support reimbursement goals for Baxter’s products and therapies. Develop and execute communication plans to support Baxter’s community investment program, milestones, etc. to both internal and external audiences.
Assist in creating and managing content for internal and external communication channels to advance communications initiatives.
Counsel business partners on appropriateness of media outreach for a given story. Monitor news media and identify communications opportunities.

Bachelor’s degree required in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing communications, or transferrable area.

Professional communications experience in healthcare such as public relations agency or corporate communications that includes media relations, strong news writing and editing, business writing. Crisis communications experience is required.
