Job Description:
Summary:  Responsible for supporting Transportation operations and systems, as well as strategic negotiations with national carriers for all modes of transportation (truck, rail, LTL, expedited shipments). Ensures that Baxter transportation policies, procedures and standards are met. Lead strategic projects for the transportation function and manage key metrics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
1.    Manage daily transport operations to deliver on time fulfillment.
2.    Manage carrier and 3rd party relationships to achieve business requirements, including, but not limited to, quality, compliance, tender acceptance and cost.
3.    Oversee rates, routing guides and contract management for transportation.
4.    Ensure overall compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
5.    Work closely with manufacturing plants, replenishment centers, deployment, 3PL and customer service teams to ensure strong execution and continuous improvement of processes & systems.
6.    Partner with procurement to negotiate carrier contracts and monitor provider compliance by conducting periodic business reviews.
7.    Implement and participate in the development of transportation strategies and tactics to achieve Baxter's objectives.
8.    Interface with international transportation manager on carrier negotiations and implementation of Supply Chain initiatives.
9.    Oversee transportation forecasting and budgeting, at an aggregate level.
10.     Manage and improve performance indicators through implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.


Qualifications include: 
·            Demonstrated ability to interact at multiple levels of the organization and function.  Ability to effectively act as a liaison with internal and external customers, suppliers and vendors.
·            Project management skills, transportation experience, negotiation skills, excellent analytical, problem solving and leadership skills.
·            Must be able to work with a high degree of independence.
·            Strong, hands-on experience with Transport Management Systems (TMS) and reporting solutions.
·            Educational requirements:  Bachelor’s degree, Supply Chain/Logistics field preferred.
·            7+ years related experience.
