SUMMARY OF ROLE
Location: Any EMEA country except Switzerland, ideally in top 5 market
 
The purpose of this role is to lead the EMEA Market access & Health Economics work for the Acute business and support some specific projects in other businesses. The role will help to ensure Market Access strategies, tools and resources are developed to meet EMEA needs. This includes development of these strategies alongside Global and input into pricing strategies developed by the Pricing team. The person will also work with EMEA countries to develop plans and strategies along with Medical and Marketing to ensure access to Baxter's products and services with minimal barriers to adoption and at appropriate reimbursement rates, and help with execution of these strategies and tactics, in particular  in countries with little or no Market access resource. He/she works collaboratively with regional, global cross-functional teams and local Market Access teams to prioritize and develop compelling evidence to support regional Access strategies. This includes development of compelling value propositions, tools, evidence generation and strategies to influence physicians, patients, providers and payers. The role includes building a strong regional function, including supporting people, processes and infrastructure, while delivering targeted results.
 
Role Responsabilities
  • Represent Voice of EMEA countries to develop creative Market Access strategies with Global that achieve Baxter's objectives for new and existing products.
  • Leads all Market Access, Health Economic & Reimbursement activities for the Acute and supports specific projects in Renal and Nutrition.
  • Drives implementation of Market Access strategies, monitoring and evaluating effectiveness and business impact and develops and implements measurement systems to demonstrate impact
  • Directs payer, provider and patient research activities to understand stakeholder requirements, customer challenges, key healthcare policies for chosen products/therapies, and health technology/assessment hurdles in regional markets
  • Provides health economics expertise to shape the understanding within the business of relevant environmental patient access challenges
  • Trains country field based teams on use of economic models and apps for use at customer level.
  • Provides on the ground support to field based staff to discuss economics for key accounts in countries, as necessary.
  • Provides input around the health technology assessment landscape to support product launches
  • Identifies, analyzes and prioritizes stakeholders for new and existing products
  • Works cross functionally to ensure alignment with Commercial, Medical, Legal, RA, etc..
  • Analyzes and adapts regional Market Access tools and studies (value dossiers, HEOR, BIM, ipad apps etc.)
  • Initiates studies, tools, apps to fill identified gaps in country needs.

Qualifications

 
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s in Healthcare discipline or Health Economics or Market Access
  • Multi-disciplinary experience and functional expertise should include depth in a healthcare area such as government affairs/public policy, pricing, reimbursement, health economics
  • Experience working in an international or regional environment useful
  • Language requirement: English, other language an advantage
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PPT. Experience in working on digital tools is a plus.
  • Understanding of European & Middle East/Africa payer environment, including coverage and reimbursement, pricing and contracting, formulary management, health technology assessment, HTA and payment policy
  • Ability to conduct landscape analysis of external pricing and reimbursement environment and to synthesize relevant information to develop strategic plans
  • Ability to develop and test global and regional-specific value messages
  • Ability to develop tools and generate HEOR evidence that will support the regions in product value demonstration and communication
  • Ability to review clinical and health economic literature, including clinical trial design and results, and pharmacoeconomic studies in order to understand implications for payers and customers
  • Ability to understand statistical analyses and database studies an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills, strong oral/written presentation skills
  • Direct payer experience and/or experience in product commercialization desirable
  • Prior regional or global experience or consultancy experience preferred
  • Understanding of strategic pricing and contracting an advantage
